Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you all had a wonderful, restful Easter break filled with chocolate, sunshine, and quality time with loved ones. It has been an absolute joy to see the children again this week. They have returned with fantastic attitudes, ready to dive into the final—and often busiest—term of the academic year.
Our focus value this week has been Inspiration. In our Monday assembly, we discussed the truly inspirational journey of the Artemis II historic moon mission. Today in our Friday assembly, we looked at inspiration closer to home: one of our children talked about her experience of training and performing in a cheerleading group, and another talked us through designing and playing an intricate computer game! Both children have shown such artistry and ingenuity - we are so proud of them!
This week has been particularly special as the Reception offers were made for September 2026. We are delighted to have both new families and current ones being offered places here. We are very much looking forward to welcoming them to the Ellingham family.
Finally, I'm a bit late with this newsletter because of the buzz and excitement in school with the long-awaited Year 4 School Sleepover! As I write this, Explorers has been transformed into an Italian pizzeria! The hall will soon be transformed into a sea of sleeping bags and pillows. A huge thank you to the staff who are giving up their Friday night (and their own beds!) to make this magic happen. To our Year 4s: Have a brilliant time! We’ll try to keep the snoring to a minimum!
Best wishes,
Margaret

Nursery have been practising their sticking stills this week, they thought about the colours they wanted to decorate the bear’s quilt with and then they were very careful when using the glue sticks.
Reception have kick-started their topic this term on ‘Life on the Farm’. They have loved playing in the new garden centre role-play area, learning about plants and growing. They have also enjoyed getting muddy while exploring how to plant seeds!
Year 2 has started their new Science topic of ‘plants’. We had a look at some common plants, including trees, and then had a look to see what different types of plants we could find in and around our playground. We then drew and described them. Surprisingly, there were far more varieties than we thought!
In PSHE, we started our new topic by looking at the roles and responsibilities of members of our families. We also thought about expectations for males and females, and worked in pairs to decide if certain jobs were mainly for men, women or both.
This week, Year 4 kicked off their new Science topic all about sound. We began by exploring how sounds are created and headed out on a "sound survey" around the school grounds. The children were fascinated to discover a world of noises we usually ignore—from the hum of the fridge to the rustle of the trees. It was a wonderful exercise in mindfulness and scientific observation!
This week, our Year 5 artists traded their desks for the rugged peaks of the Himalayas as we explored the breathtaking work of Nicholas Roerich. Known for his vibrant use of colour and spiritual connection to the mountains, Roerich provided the perfect inspiration for our current study of landscape and form. We look forward to seeing these sketches evolve into full-color masterpieces as we introduce tempera and layering techniques next week!
This week our value was Inspiration
This is the full safeguarding team in school. They are all trained to Level 3 and everyone in the school received the annual update of Safeguarding Level 2 training at INSET. If you are worried about a child, please let one of the team know.
