Year 6 residential trip to Isle of Wight
Year 6 have shown incredible dedication this year as they geared up for their SATs. Demonstrating all of Ellingham's values, their courage and determination to do their absolute best has been truly inspiring.
The week began with a special SATs breakfast, where students arrived bright and early to enjoy a bite to eat and some relaxing time with friends, helping to ease any pre-test jitters before tackling their first paper.
The week concluded with an exciting announcement: Year 6 will be performing 'A Hint of Snow White' for their upcoming production! The children are now buzzing with anticipation and ready to begin rehearsals.
We are all immensely proud of the hard work and effort shown by every single Year 6 student this year and are looking forward to a fantastic final term with them!
Thank you for those families responding to our survey - we have doubled the amount of responses to 66 but we still want to hear from more of you. We need to know what to do more of and what to improve so that we create the best possible learning environment for our children. I will be meeting with Mrs Johonnett, the new headteacher, after the half-term break and would love to share your views directly with her. Your children have also all completed a survey from their perspective.
The education safeguarding adviser for Achieving for Children in Kingston has given us a positive review of our safeguarding practice. There are some questions from her in the survey, which cover safeguarding to support her findings.

Children at Ellingham love maths (they told us so in their survey) so we are really excited that next Wednesday is National Numeracy Day. We will be focusing on money - a subject close to all of our hearts! Please send in coins so that we can make giant snakes in each class, or maybe join them together to make a whole school version.
We have really worked hard to make maths enjoyable and accessible for all with a very popular Friday Maths Club and a weekly Times Table Rock Stars battle for Year 2 to Year 6. 4CS have been the winners almost every week, with 6H knocking them off the top slot just once. Come on everyone - take on 4CS champions.
Year 1 worked very hard to learn lines, songs and a dance for their recent class assembly. The children delivered an Ellingham news report loaded with facts they have learnt all about weather and seasons. The audience were very impressed and Miss Peart was extremely proud!
We are delighted that our entry system upgrade is completed and functioning well. There is some more tweaking to be done, which hopefully won't cause any difficulties to you, but please bear with us if there are any glitches.
You will have noticed that the gates are automatically opening at 8.35 and 3.05 every day. Children should be in class by 8.40 so the car gate at Harrow Close will automatically close at 8.42. All pedestrian gates will remain open until 8.50 but all children arriving late should be brought to the office by their parents and signed in. The gates will be closed at 3.20.
Are you passionate about education and eager to make a difference in your child's school? We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic parent to join Ellingham's governing body as a Parent Governor.
Role: Parent Governor (Volunteer)
About the Role: As a Parent Governor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our school. We are taking part in WOW's Walk to School week. This year's challenge is to take on The Great Space Walk to encourage everyone to travel actively to school every day of the week. Meeting various colourful intergalactic friends along the way, children will learn about the important reasons to walk or wheel and its benefits for individuals, communities and the planet!
Two weeks ago, the Reception children planted some tomato seeds. They were very surprised to see how small the seeds were. We also wrote some instructions in case any other classes would like to have a go. We now have a tray of healthy seedlings so will take our plants home for half term to see who can grow the best plant!
Year 1 listened to a story called 'It Looks Like Spilt Milk', which was all about the different things we see in the clouds. The children then created their very own cloud art in the sunshine.
Year 3 enjoyed a wonderful trip to see the bees at Chessington Garden centre. They learnt about how honey bees live, swarm and make honey. Wearing their protective suits, the children enjoyed touching parts of the hive and see the intricate honeycomb up close.
This half term, Year 4 have been inspired by the work of Frank Pick who used primary colours to create images about transport. We recreated his design onto A4 paper and then had to upscale our creations to A1!
This is the full safeguarding team in school. They are all trained to Level 3 and everyone in the school received the annual update of Safeguarding Level 2 training at INSET. If you are worried about a child, please let one of the team know.
