Keeping Children Safe at Ellingham Primary School

Ellingham Primary School fully recognises its responsibilities for child protection. The purpose of this policy is to outline these responsibilities and in particular that of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). It also outlines the procedures of the action to be taken where the abuse of a child is suspected.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead is the Headteacher, Lisa Keogh, and in her absence, the  Deputy Safeguarding Lead is Jacqui Malherbe (Pupil Support Team).  Esme Winn (Assistant Head), Sally Sephton (SENCo) and Lorraine Davis (Pupil & Family Support worker) are also part of the Safeguarding Team. The Nominated Governors for child protection are Dan Martin & Natalie Harris (Vice Chair of Governors). The role of the Nominated Governor is to meet regularly with the DSL to monitor that appropriate policies and procedures are in place and that they are being implemented correctly. Compliance with the policy will be monitored by the DSL and through staff performance measures.
