Dear Parents and carers,
I can't believe this is the last day of term! It is wonderful to be here, reflecting on the arc of the year: the hub-bub of September and October, getting to know the children and classrooms, already showing prospective parents around; the Spooky Disco that I didn't get the 'dress up' memo for; the wonders of Christmas and my first experience of the beautiful performances of the children; Ofsted (!); the growing number of trips and visits throughout the school; the lead up to statutory assessments following the Easter break, and finally the joy of all things Year 6 in their performance and Leavers' assembly. And so much more in-between.
It has truly been a wonderful year, and I have loved every minute of it. I want to thank the children for making me feel so welcome, for their inquisitiveness and their joy. I have been so proud whenever walking around the school of your politeness and engagement. You always hold the door open, always smile, and are always reflective.
Parents and carers, I want to thank you for your support, time and patience - I have enjoyed many an engaging conversation on the gate. It has been wonderful to get to know you. And finally, I want to thank all the absolutely amazing staff team here at Ellingham. You are caring, dedicated, funny and loyal, and you gave me a sense of belonging from the moment I joined in September. Thank you for your generosity, and for your incredibly hard work all year. I appreciate you enormously.
I wish all our wonderful Ellingham community the most wonderful summer break!
Best wishes,
Margaret

This week we had a very special assembly to say goodbye to three amazing teachers who are moving on to new roles at other schools.
We would like to thank Mr Birch, Mrs Snow and Mrs Stansfield for all their dedication to the pupils and staff over their many years of service. You will be missed by us enormously! We wish you well in your new schools.
What a wonderful Sports Day we had! The planning and preparation took a while by several members of staff, but the result was an incredibly well-run day with all the children enjoying a rich range of track and field events.
I would like to thank BeSports for the incredible coaching they provide for all our children throughout the year.
It was time to say their final goodbyes! It was wonderful to hear the range of memories shared by our outstanding Year 6 pupils in their Learver' Assembly this morning. There weren't many dry eyes in the house! Thank you to the Year 6 teaching team for their unwavering support for their pupils, from teaching and learning, SATs, the wonderful performance, and finally organising this last day.
What an absolutely spectacular year of sport we have had, with our children throwing themselves into every competition with boundless energy, determination, and impeccable sportsmanship! We have entered a brilliant variety of tournaments this year, with the absolute highlights being our phenomenal football team reaching the finals of the Premier League Primary Stars tournament with Chelsea FC, our fantastic tag rugby squad proudly representing Kingston, and our incredible runners taking on the historic TCS London Mini Marathon. From athletics to football, and so much more in between, every single child who participated has shown incredible growth and resilience—thank you to all of our amazing pupils, dedicated staff, and cheering parents for making this a truly golden year of school sports!
We want to say a huge thank you to the Friends of Ellingham.
We really appreciate all the fundraising and support you’ve given the school this year.
We'd like to give a special shout-out to Carly and Jen, plus all the parents and carers who have helped at eventsithout you these couldn't happen.
Your fundraising, along with your support to the school, makes a huge impact and is part of what makes Ellingham so special. Thank you.
The Nursery children had a fantastic End of Term Pirate Party this week, we dressed up, played games, searched for ther pirate’s parrots and treasure and had a tasty pirate lunch.
This half term, Year 4 became structural engineers and star bakers!
The children designed sturdy 3D net boxes to safely hold a cupcake, decorating them with eye-catching designs to attract potential buyers. To put their packaging to the test, they baked delicious chocolate chip muffins that fit perfectly and securely inside.
Fantastic work, Year 4—creativity and baking at its finest!
What an incredible, jam-packed year of learning we have had in Year 5! In science, we blasted off into the cosmos, exploring the wonders of Earth and Space, while in history, we traveled back in time to uncover the dramatic and gripping world of the Tudors—alongside so many other fantastic topics and projects. Mrs. Snow and Mrs. Stansfield want to say a massive thank you to every single one of you for your hard work, creativity, and brilliant attitude all year long. You have made us so incredibly proud, and we want to wish you all the very best of luck as you step up into Year 6!
Our wonderful Year 6 pupils have been busy putting the finishing touches on their autobiographies by developing their sewing skills!
To create their beautiful book covers, the children demonstrated incredible patience and determination. It was also heart warming to see their kindness and teamwork shine through as they eagerly helped one another master tricky stitches.
The finished keepsakes look absolutely beautiful. Well done, Year 6 - we are incredibly proud of your hard work and collaborative spirit!
This is the full safeguarding team in school. They are all trained to Level 3 and everyone in the school received the annual update of Safeguarding Level 2 training at INSET. If you are worried about a child, please let one of the team know.
