Harvest Assembly - Friday, 3rd October
The Harvest Assembly will be held on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, to reflect on the importance of food and to support those in need. We hope you can support this worthy cause and we thank you in advance for your generosity.
What a wonderful Meet the Teacher event we had on Wednesday! Thank you so much to all the parents and families who took the time to come along. It was truly a pleasure to meet so many of you and put faces to names. I really enjoyed the opportunity to share my excitement for the upcoming school year and discuss my vision for how we can continue to grow and succeed as a school community moving forward. Your support is very much appreciated, and I look forward to partnering with you for a successful year ahead!
For those families who were unable to join us, your child(ren) should have brought home a booklet with lots of information about their year group and plans for this year. We are also planning an online event for those families who were unable to join us in person, please look out for further information to follow.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
The Harvest Assembly will be held on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, to reflect on the importance of food and to support those in need. Children are invited to bring food donations for the Kingston Foodbank, which provides emergency food locally. Further information is in the letter here, including the list of items that the Foodbank particularly need. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

This week, we were delighted to welcome the children from Piglets Nursery to our school. They enjoyed a special story time with songs and a healthy fruit snack. Our Year 6 Ambassadors were on hand to help and welcome our little visitors to our lovely school.
We kindly ask for your cooperation in not using the Merritt Medical Centre car park during drop-off and pick up times.
This car park is reserved exclusively for patients and visitors to the medical centre and it is important that access is kept clear for their use at all times.
Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us maintain good relationships with our local community

Year 4 will be cooking this weekend. Everyone has taken home their 'Brite box' which has all the ingredients and instructions to make a meat or vegetarian bolognese sauce with pasta. We look forward hearing how tasty all the meals were. Please do send any photos in via the school office@elp.rbksch.org, we'd love to see them.
Parents and carers of Year 5 and Year 6 pupils - please see the information below regarding the transition to secondary school, which we hope you will find useful.

Last Friday, we announced and celebrated this year's School Councillors. They are wearing their badges with pride and look forward to representing their class this year. Well done to our School Council team.
In Nursery we enjoy sharing books together and talking about the story.
Cherry Class have loved playing in the mud kitchen this week and have been very busy digging, making camp fires, baking, chatting, sharing and lots of laughing!
Year 1 have been reading Jack and the Jelly Beanstalk in English and used their senses to describe what jellybeans felt, looked and smelt like. The children then pretended they were Jack climbing the beanstalk as they scaled the climbing equipment and thought of verbs for their writing.
This week, Year 3 have been preparing to write their own alternative ending to the text 'The Stone Age Boy' in English. To spark their imaginations, the children entered a dark, cave-like classroom and created their cave drawings like the ones in the original story. Here are some impressive examples...
Year 4 turned into super-scientists this week for their Classification topic! We swapped the classroom for the great outdoors, heading to the Chessington School sensory garden on a mission to find some fascinating invertebrates. The children were brilliant, excitedly using classification keys like professional explorers to identify every worm, spider, and snail they discovered. It was an amazing way to learn how to group and name the living world around us!
Year 6 have been enthusiastically developing their oracy skills in year group assembly. This week’s debate question was, "Would you rather travel through time or travel to every country in the world?" It was wonderful to hear all of their confident arguments and well-reasoned opinions.
