Dear Parents and carers,
As the penultimate week of the school year comes to an end I can’t believe how fast the year has gone. We’ve all been enjoying chasing the shade in the playground and it’s been great to see how well the children (and the staff!) have been coping with the heat.
The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the Year Six performance. I genuinely felt like I had spent an evening at the theatre. Year 6, you were brilliant - your acting, singing, dancing and comic timing. Watching you reminded me why I love working in education so much. A huge congratulations to both classes and your teaching team. You should be very proud! You will never forget that performance, and neither will I.
I hope everyone is excited for Sports Day on Monday. We are hoping for an event to rival the World Cup! We’ve made changes to adapt to the hot weather and it is therefore really important that your children arrive at school at 8:35am. We need to register the children and walk to the ground. Remember to apply sun cream before coming to school and also to bring a named water bottle and a sun hat.
Enjoy the rest of this sunny weekend as we get ready for an exciting final week!
Best wishes,
Margaret

Congratulations to Oak class who had the highest class attendance this week of 97.8%.
This week, the value was All the Values.
We talked about Sport's Day on Monday, and linked this to the Olympic values, which of course are our own values.
On Thursday we celebrated the different languages and culture within our school on Multilingual Day. The morning started with an assembly held by David Johnson from Southborough where he taught the school how to say their name and which pets they had, and then we all went back to class for the long-anticipated french breakfast. Years 5 and 6 had a holiday Spanish workshop by Nadia Cristelo from Tolworth while the rest of the school found out about the languages spoken within their classes, and made posters to celebrate these. In the afternoon we got creative, and learnt about an artist from another country and then made our own artwork in their style - there were some fantastic pieces! Finally, at the end of the day we were joined by some international parents who came and spoke to the children about their home countries and languages. Thank you very much to these parents, it really was so interesting to hear all about the different cultures.
It has been another busy week in Nursery. We had our very successful sports activity morning, the children showed their skills in throwing, balancing, kicking, coordination and general fitness. We then enjoyed our lovely, alfresco French breakfast on Thursday.
Continuing our underwater theme, the children have produced some beautiful art, using collage, paint and playdough.
Weather alert!
Year 1 has been learning all about different weather in Geography and Science this half term. The children recently learnt all about extreme weather which is apt in our current heatwave! This week, we found out how wind is created and Maple Class enjoyed making their own windsocks which had to be tested out in front of the classroom fans! 🙂
In English, we did some free writing to develop our confidence with our own ideas and vocabulary choices while making sure we thought about the reader. We watched the beginning of a story about a mysterious forest and then continued the story ourselves!
Recently, the children in Year 3 used their scientific knowledge to design their own magnetic games. Each game had to use magnetic force to attract the objects involved. There were a variety of creative ideas (including racing, fishing and football games) and a lot of fun was had by all!
This week, Year 4 celebrated their epic MTC results with certificates and ice-lollies. The children worked so hard, both Mrs Gait and Mrs Steed are really proud of them. Thank you to all parents who supported at home and a special shout out to Miss O’Connell and Miss McQullain who worked tirelessly each morning practising as much as possible!
This is the full safeguarding team in school. They are all trained to Level 3 and everyone in the school received the annual update of Safeguarding Level 2 training at INSET. If you are worried about a child, please let one of the team know.
