We wish you all a very happy and restful summer holiday, when we get there!
What an amazing time we had at the fair! It was lovely to see so many of you enjoying yourself in the not too blazing sun. Thank you so much to all our volunteers and especially our lovely Friends of Ellingham team. It couldn't happen without you.
This week the whole school were entertained by Year 3 who have been learning to play the Ukulele and delighted the audience with a version of "The best day of my life" by American Authors and "Shotgun" by George Ezra.
Our choir have been amazing and rounded off the year with a visit to The Star & Garter home for the elderly. The residents were delighted and moved by the children's beautiful performance, and sang along with songs from their era.
18 children from Ellingham joined 26 other schools from the borough at the Country Dance Festival this week. They showcased some traditional dances they have been learning with Miss Peart, who was very proud of them. It was a fun morning filled with partner swings, do-si-dos and even the parents joined in with The Circassian Circle!
This week the children in Nursery had their own mini sports day. There were 5 activities for them to take part in - basketball, hit the target, long jump, jumping off the frames and races. All the children took part and were joined by their parents. Everyone was awarded a medal for great effort and participation.
Year 1 & Year 2 have had a wonderful day at the seaside. They had ice creams on the beach and visited the RNLI, where they learnt how the volunteers save lives. They also sketched the harbour and walked along the promenade. It was a fantastic day!
Recently, the children in Year 3 used their scientific knowledge to design their own magnetic games. Each game had to use magnetic force to attract the objects involved. There were a variety of creative ideas (including racing, fishing and football games) and a lot of fun was had by all!
Today, Year 4 were lucky enough to be visited by Kingston Museum. We took part in a community mapping session connected to the 1100th celebrations of King Athelstans’ coronation.
Last Friday, 4th July, the whole of Year 6 visited St Marys School for a friendly game of rounders in the sunshine. It was a lovely opportunity for the children to relax and have fun together as they approach the end of a fantastic year. We were incredibly proud of their excellent sportsmanship and the wonderful way they supported their peers throughout the afternoon. Well done, Year 6!
