There is incredible excitement for and from our Year 6 children who are heading off to the Isle of Wight on Sunday. We are all envious of the great activities they have planned, from archery, trapeze, dragon boating plus a campfire and disco and we wish them a bon voyage!
Year 6 parents will be sent a message with a link to our dedicated Year 6 Isle of Wight webpage for the latest pictures of their activities.

It was so lovely to see so many of you at the Celebrate Chessington fair and to meet so many others from the community. Ellingham staff had so much fun helping children with their painting, fishing for ducks and playing with dinosaurs.
Mrs Johonnett, our new headteacher for September, came along to meet parents, children and the local community, including the Mayor.
Well done to all the children who walked, cycled and scooted to school just before half-term. The winning classes were Maple for KS1 and 5S for KS2.
As usual the children looked amazing with their enthusiasm for groovy shoes Tuesday. They were very proud of themselves and recognise how important it is to keep themselves healthy by walking or becoming car free.
Congratulations to Evelyn and Immy, winners of May's Artist of the Month for KS1 and KS2 respectively, for their interpretations of Kandinsky's artworks.
David Hockney is the Artist of the Month of June. The deadline for this competition is Monday 30th June.
Reception have been very busy planting out our seedings this week in the hope that we will have grown our own vegetables and fruit by the summer. So far we have tomatoes, runner beans and potatoes on the go.
Mrs Peters grew the bean at home so we have also conducted an experiment with the bean seeds to see what conditions are need for them to grow. The conditions were: on nothing, cotton wool, cotton wool and water, soil and water. Most of us predict it will be the soil and water but some of us think the cotton wool and water will be best!
Year 1 have learnt all about Vincent Van Gogh. The children looked at lots of his art work and followed a step by step video this week to draw sunflowers. All of these have been put together to make our very own Van Gogh sunflower art.
Take a look at the finished piece in Maple Class' window.
Year 2 have been learning about the UK in geography, and in art we have been sketching famous London landmarks. We then used these sketches to experiment with ink printing, using polytiles.
Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed their first coding lesson using Micro:bits in computing today. Working in pairs, they explored the programming environment (similar to the Scratch software they have used before) and different basic coding blocks.
Year 4 started their new science topic about electricity. They were given a battery, a piece of foil and a bulb. Using this simple equipment, they were tasked with making the blub light up. After 20 minutes, a lot of team work and deep scientific thinking, the children were successful in their exploration.
In science, Year 6 enjoyed learning about the components of blood and their functions. They then created their own blood using Cheerios (red blood cells), marshmallows (white blood cells), yellow water (plasma) and oats (platelets).
They also created brilliant explanation texts to explain their jobs!
Ellingham children are digital natives and are confident and passionate about their on-line social life.
The school ensures that the curriculum includes extensive coverage of how the children can keep themselves and we have signed up to the National College, which provides information sheets on how parents can keep children safe on-line.
Each week we will update with more information.
This is the full safeguarding team in school. They are all trained to Level 3 and everyone in the school received the annual update of Safeguarding Level 2 training at INSET. If you are worried about a child, please let one of the team know.
