Our Christmas hoops and Christmas tree will be going up on Monday. On Friday 6th December we start with our Christmas Fair, which will run during the day in school time. All classes will be taken to join in the fun to have a go on the tombola, and game stalls to win prizes, plus a session creating some Christmas crafts. Raffle tickets will be drawn on Friday 13th December so don't miss out on the prizes. There's a prize for the class that sells the most tickets.
On Thursday 12th December, Santa's Grotto will be open to help the children celebrate Christmas Jumper Day and the Christmas lunch, with crackers, decoration and pudding provided by Friends of Ellingham. Thanks so much to Friends of Ellingham for organising this. Any further volunteers for the day, please let FOE know: FriendsofEllingham@outlook.com

Early Years Classes Learn to Cross the Road Safely
The children in Nursery practiced what they had learnt about road safety in the garden by crossing the road. They also did a traffic light matching activity.
Reception went on a little trip to Ellingham Road to practise our road safety. We all knew that we must only cross the road with an adult. It was tricky to find a safe place to cross because of the packed cars. We saw an electric car turn the corner, we could not hear it! We learnt to look left, then right, then left again. Most importantly we learnt to keep looking and listening as we cross.
We would also like to thank Specsavers for their very kind donation of new high viz jackets for us to wear when we go on a trip.
LEARNING TOGETHER
Nursery Escape the Ice Age
We have been exploring the cold and one morning the children found some dinosaurs trapped in ice and needed to rescue them. They used hammers and worked together to get them all out.
Year 1 Geographers!
Maple class got out and about this week to explore the area around Ellingham to help them with their geography topic 'Where is our School?'
The children went for a local walk and took note of all the things they saw in the local area. They saw a church, barbers, doctors, shops and lots of houses including some of their own!
Year 2 Christmas Journey
On 21st November Year 2 went to the Kings Centre to take part in their Christmas Journey experience. We learnt about the Christmas Story through a show, drama and songs. Thank you to Insight-we thought it was brilliant!
Year 4 Light Up for Diwali
This term, Year 4 have been learning about the Hindu religion. Last week, we learnt about the story of Rama and Sita and how this is connected to the Hindu Festival of Diwali. We discovered that it is the start of the Hindu New year and a celebration of light defeating dark and good overcoming evil. The children were able to make their own celebration lights.
Year 3 Exercise For A Healthy Heart
This week, Year 3 investigated what happens to our heart rate when we exercise in Science. There was a lot of huffing and puffing but everyone was able to identify the benefits of exercise for a healthy body and mind.
Y6 History Playdough Wars
Year 6 have been exploring what happened during WW2 and the impact it had. We used playdough to represent the axis countries. We then had to listen carefully and move the playdough according to what happened in the first part of WW2. We were surprised to see how quickly countries were invaded across Europe! We finished our playdough war after Germany took over the Channel islands, because on the 10th July the Battle of Britain began and the fighting took to the skies.
