So much fun was had during World Book Day. Explorers children arrived first, dressed to impress!
Every year group stunned with the range of costumes and fantatics creations!
The children were so excited to swap books as part of our book exchange and were delighted to go home with something newR and Year 1, Year 2 and 3 swapped classes and did an activity based on the teacher's favourite book. All children participate in the Blue Peter Book Badge to write about their favourite book and then illustrate it. Hopefully lots of parents have applied for the badge. Nescott College drama group delivered a great show in the afternoon for the whole school. The children still had some energy for buddy reading at the end of the day!
Staff joined in the fun too.
Reception children were delighted to be taught by their very own dinosaur teacher! Yes that's actually a teacher in that dinosaur costume.
The excitement began with a fascinating visit from the National Physical Laboratory, where our children had the chance to learn about the wonders of liquid nitrogen. It was an experience that left everyone in awe!
The children kicked off their own activities with a WOW morning, where each child moved to a new year group to take part in an exciting science experiment. There were plenty of 'wow' moments as our students explored, discovered, and had fun with science.
Throughout the week, hands-on, practical learning opportunities were at the forefront. Our children demonstrated our core values—teamwork, inspiration, determination, and courage—through every activity.
Every year group took part in a DT project linked to a real-world issue - they problem-solved and developed many technical skills like reinforcing their structures and creating pulleys.
We were also lucky to host some inspiring visitors who shared how STEM skills can lead to amazing careers. Mike, a civil engineer, shared his incredible experiences traveling the world, and Year 5 and 6 were especially fortunate to meet Matthew's dad, who impressed the students with his journey in technology. The children were amazed to learn that he, too, had attended our school, making his career story even more inspiring!
One of the highlights was the whole-school science investigation, where students investigated how height changes as we grow older. This was an excellent opportunity for Year 6 to showcase their maths skills as they worked together to calculate the average height of each class. The life-size display each class created together is nothing short of AMAZING!
The week culminated in our STEM fair - it was wonderful to see so many of you and to celebrate the children's learning together. Thank you again to all our wonderful helpers and volunteers throughout the week.
We are especially proud of our Year 6 ambassadors who spoke so confidently at their stalls.

We are very excited that 15 students will be running 2.6km in the TCS London Mini Marathon. It's the most amazing event to be part of - the atmosphere is electric. It might inspire some to go on to do the full 26.2 miles in years to come.
The London Marathon is also a fabulous fund-raising opportunity. Friends of Ellingham have the goal of £5,000 this year. We're hoping we can all get behind the amazing Team Ellingham and show some support by sponsoring them to run the 2.6km. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
