The Ellingham Journey: Strong Roots for Flourishing Futures

Welcome to Ellingham

Starting school is a big step for children – the first step on a seven-year journey through the wonderful and exciting world of primary education.  All of our teachers are committed to making that journey a welcoming and engaging one, with fun and exciting opportunities to create amazing memories and help your child make the best possible progress.

Ellingham children are excited to come to school.  It is a pleasure to walk into reception classes and watch the children at play, laughing and developing friendships, sharing activities, getting messy and creative, and expressing themselves with confidence.  They are always so proud to share the latest sounds and numbers they have learnt, to demonstrate their newly acquired reading skills or show off their latest piece of artwork or construction creation.

Our reception team encourage all of the children with care and kindness to move towards greater independence and to challenge themselves in their learning so that they make strong progress and have all the skills they need to move onto the next year group.  We know that working in partnership with our families is the key to success and regular communication between us is an essential aspect of your child’s education.

Meet the Teachers in Early Years

We will meet with all families before the children start school so that we can discuss your child as an individual and we will be available for you to contact in the lead up to children starting school.

Mrs Paula Peters, Early Years Leader & Class Teacher

I am passionate about offering children quality teaching and learning experiences that enable every child to reach their full potential. My ambition is to ensure that children have the best introduction to school life, with positive friendships and a love of learning.

I joined the school in 1998 as an experienced and well-qualified Early Years teacher with an Honours Degree and a Certificate of Professional Practice in Early Childhood Education. I ensure that I keep up to date with the latest research and training in this area so that the children get the best possible education.

Gardening is my other passion which I share with the children by ensuring that our planters in the Reception outside area are full of greenery, fruit and vegetables and flowers.

Mrs Becky Kingshott, Nursery Teacher

I am the Nursery teacher at Ellingham School. I have over 17 year experience working in Early years settings ranging from day nurseries to school nurseries. I am a believer in learning through play and making sure the children have a rich learning environment helps the children to achieve their best.

I qualified as a teacher 8 years ago, alongside a degree in Early years teaching, Early years professional status. I first began my career in Early by qualifying as a Nursery Nursery 20years ago.

In my own time I enjoy spending time with my young children going for walks, drawing and being creative. One of my favourite things I like to do is baking and cooking. These are skills that I plan to share with the children in Nursery and the wider school.
