Friday 30th October - Half term
Monday 2nd November - INSET day
Tuesday 3rd November - First day for the children
Dear Parents,
It's the last day of term, and it has gone by so quickly! We've had all the weathers and moved into a new season - one of my favourite photos is the one above that so wonderfully shows both. I was on lunchtime duty and I found two children seeing the beauty in rain drops on fallen leaves. I promised them it would feature front and centre of the newsletter!
If your child is in Year 6, it is very important you complete your application for secondary school. The deadline is 31st October 2026 - this is in half term. Please see the link with information on how to submit your application.
This week, we said goodbye to Mrs Cluer, Mrs Haines and Mrs Malherbe. We wish them well in their next steps.
I wish you all a wonderful half term.
Warm regards,
Margaret

Well done to Maple Class who won best class attendance last week.
As we reach the end of this half term, the Nursery Team wanted to take a moment to celebrate the wonderful journey your children have been on. It has been a joy to watch them grow in confidence, curiosity, and creativity through a mix of play, exploration, and Early Years learning.
From the imaginative role-play corner to outdoor adventures, every day has been filled with laughter and discovery. A few of our favourite moments this term included ‘Exploring with musical instruments to make sounds and going on a Mini-beast hunt, where the children showed such enthusiasm and teamwork it truly captured the spirit of our nursery community.
We are so proud of how each child has embraced new challenges, shared ideas, and supported their friends. Their progress in communication, problem-solving, and independence has been inspiring to see.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement at home, it makes such a difference. We look forward to another exciting half term ahead, full of fresh opportunities to learn and play together. Here are some photos of shared memories and collaborative learning.
Wishing you a restful and happy break!
From the Nursery team, Mrs Hunte and Miss Higgins
Reception enjoyed an autumn walk, looking for signs of the changing season and collecting colourful leaves and other natural treasures. We then shared the lovely story Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert, which inspired us to create our own Leaf Man collages using the autumn treasures we had found. We loved seeing all the different characters the children created!
Last week, Year 1 have been exploring their own timelines in history this half term. As part of their learning, they used photos or drawings to create their own family tree and discussed their relatives and ancestors.
This term, we have been reading ‘Last Stop at Market Street’. Over the past fortnight we have been working on writing our own ‘next chapter’ of the story. We planned, wrote, edited and finally published our work. Our skills as authors are really developing and we’re very proud of what we have written!
This week, Year 3 explored the work of artist Yellena James, who is known for using intriguing, organic shapes in her creations. After studying her style, the children applied her techniques to design their own unique artwork.
We had a fantastic time on our Year 4 Anglo-Saxon Day! The children stepped back into history by carving their names into clay rune tablets and making delicious no-bake honey cakes. In DT and art, they designed impressive Anglo-Saxon shields featuring a central boss and created intricate illuminated letters inspired by early manuscript designs. We wrapped up our immersive day with an exciting Anglo-Saxon quiz to test their new knowledge.
Year 5 finished their first half term with a bang! On Monday 19th October we travelled to Greenwich to visit the National Maritime Museum. We stopped to see the Cutty Sark (once the fastest ship on the seas) and discovered some of the artefacts left behind from some of the first Polar explorers.
On Friday 23rd October we spent the day making a double page spread about our favourite explorer and creating emergency shelters that could respond to the unpredictable weather in Antarctica.
We are immensely proud of our Year 6 pupils, who put on a wonderful Victorian assembly for parents and carers this morning. The children worked so hard to learn their lines, project their voices clearly, and bring their history learning to life on stage.
Thank you to all the parents and carers who came out to support them—we had a fantastic turnout! Well done, Year 6.
It's FOE Winter Fair on Saturday 28th November!
