A Fresh Taste for the New Term!

We are delighted to celebrate the successful launch of our new catering service this week from PS Catering. It has been a great first week, with both children and staff thoroughly enjoying the delicious new lunchtime menus. 

On this week's menu we had Macaroni Cheese, Vegetable Fajitas, Roast Turkey, Bubble & Squeak Pie, Ice cream, flapjack and caramel mousse as well as lovely salads and homemade bread. A big thank you to our kitchen team and our new area manager who have done a great job.

Please do look at the menus on the school website, next week is Week 3 on the menu. School meals are free to all children. 

Year 1 

Maple Class have settled well into Year 1 and have enjoyed the week exploring their new classroom and learning new routines. They have shown excellent listening skills and great team work! 🙂 

Year 2

We have had a brilliant start to Year 2! This week we’ve spent time getting to know our new class and all the routines and expectations of year 2, and Mrs Richardson is very impressed with all of us. She already knows we’re going to have a great year!

Year 3

Year 3 has settled in brilliantly this week, earning a class award for outstanding respect! Together, we've been getting used to our new routines, creating class rules, diving into History and Science, and practicing our times tables. 

Year 4

Welcome back to a brand new school year! Year 4 have settled into their new routines exceptionally well this week, bringing fantastic energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm to the classroom. We have kicked off an exciting term by exploring animal classification in science, stepping back in time to discover the Anglo-Saxons in history, and diving into our thrilling new class text, Arthur and the Golden Rope by Joe Todd-Stanton. The children should be very proud of how quickly they have adapted to Year 4 and how brilliantly they have engaged with their learning. Thank you for your continued support! 

Year 5

Year 5 have had an excellent first week settling into Upper Key Stage 2, taking time to explore their classrooms, meet new staff members, and adjust to the expectations of the year group. They have also spent plenty of time together as a whole cohort, building friendships through lively team games and singing sessions. We are so proud of how quickly they have settled and look forward to a brilliant year ahead! 

Year 6 

Year 6 have made a calm and positive start to the term, settling quickly into their new classrooms and establishing routines with their teachers.

In PSHE, they have explored the importance of oracy, co-creating discussion guidelines to help them become effective learning partners. Reading is already central to their learning: the year group has begun their class read, Street Child, and drawn creative inspiration from The Arrival to craft intricate origami birds. 

As the oldest cohort, Year 6 are stepping into their role model responsibilities. Beyond taking their seats on the benches during assembly, they have submitted formal letters of application to Mrs Johonnett for school leadership roles. Some children are also busy preparing their speeches for our House Captain Elections, which will take place on Monday 14th September. We really look forward to watching them all flourish as positive role models as the year progresses.
